Matt Hill is a composer based in Los Angeles, CA. He began his music career in Kansas City, MO, around 2006, recording minimal/drone music with acoustic guitar and theremin as well as playing bass guitar and synth in the psych-drone project Expo ‘70. In 2008, he started a project under the name Umberto as a homage to ‘70s/’80s horror films. Since then, he has released several albums and performed throughout the US and Europe. His shows have included bills with the same film composers he was influenced by such as Fabio Frizzi, Goblin, and Alan Howarth. He’s also performed live re-scores to some of his favorite movies at several film festivals. Currently, Matt still releases music under Umberto as well as composing for films, advertisements, and incidental music for television.
